The Episcopal Church of The Transfiguration

The Episcopal Church of The Transfiguration ~~ 68825 Brooks Camp Rd., Sisters, OR 97759

We grieve with the many families and friends touched by this shooting in Connecticut.  We mourn the loss of lives so young and innocent.  We grieve that the means of death are so readily available to people who lack the present capacity to find other ways of responding to their own anger and grief.  We know that God’s heart is broken over this tragedy, and the tragedies that unfold each and every day across this nation.  And we pray that this latest concentration of shooting deaths in one event will awaken us to the unnoticed number of children and young people who die senselessly across this land every day.  More than 2000 children and youth die from guns each year, more than the soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Will you pray and work toward a different future, the one the Bible’s prophets dreamed of, where city streets are filled with children playing in safety (Zechariah 8:5)

The Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori
Presiding Bishop and Primate
The Episcopal Church

As our nation grieves over the horrendous events at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Connecticut, we ask prayers for those who mourn that they may be surrounded in God’s love, that they may find comfort in family, friends, and in the knowledge that the hearts of strangers feel their loss. May we all find strength in Christ’s love that we may support all who mourn this day.

Fr. Ted+

Welcome and thank you for visiting our parish website.

We are located in the City of Sisters, OR, nestled in the shadow of the Three Sisters Mountains (Faith, Hope, and Charity).  The Church of the Transfiguration is made up of a wonderful mixture of people who come from various worshiping traditions and life experiences.  While this is an Episcopal Church, our early service on Sundays combines the various traditions of Presbyterian, Methodist, Disciples of Christ, and numerous other Protestant communities.  Yet, even in those differences there is one community that gathers together for worship, parish events, and service to our community.

Our commonality is found in our love for one another, and

Our Lord.  I hope that you will come and worship with us and have a chance of experiencing this marvelous connection.  I encourage you to explore this website so that you might learn more about us and this community.  I especially encourage you to look at our Outreach page, and hope that you might find a helping ministry that you can be part of.
